Death Note is a great show when L is involved. He is the perfect compliment to the villain protagonist Light, and their competition and relationship is one of the more fascinating in recent anime. The best part of the conflict for us is that the two pushed each other to go beyond their normal limits, leading to many a convoluted series of gambits to come on top. L ultimately takes the honors here for being what drew people to Death Note after the first episode. Light as a killer was interesting, but only L made it truly worth closely following.
