    I kind of skipped this one at the time, thinking it was more of the same. In retrospect I think it's a more creative and challenging game in terms of level design, but I dislike how the presentation has a 'market engineered for '90s kids' vibe to it and how there's more focus on pointless collecting (DK coins). Backgrounds often have garish colours and seem geared towards making a strong first impression but lacking in detail and moderation. Character design is all over the place, some mounts in particular look pretty silly and out of place. As with the original, control is not as tight as in Mario nor Sonic and the camera does cause a few cheap hits here and there, but it's fast and allows for a decent flow when learned.
