While it lacks the 2.5D backgrounds of the first two NES games, and the story is less memorable (it was made by Sims so some differences should be expected), this is a solid entry in its own right with less frustrating mechanics and level design than the series is notorious for. The ninja magic is in place, along with the ability to climb ceilings from NG3, and it's an overall engaging and fast paced experience. Oh, and the overpowered flame shield is a test of discipline.
