Gunslinger Girl could've just been campy, but instead it's an excellent drama with well thought out storytelling and characters. The animation is high quality, the music is gorgeous and exciting, and the action is swift and stylized. The careful pacing and moving storylines, combined with the tragic execution of it's concept makes it a gem.
