Saved!Rich .Editing … It's a real shame Marvel weren't confident enough to include Gods and magic in their film universe back when they made the first Thor film (nowadays they're confident enough for sorcerers and taking raccoons after all) and went for a sci-fi alien so advanced it seems like magic twist on the character, between that and nerfing him so he doesn't outshine the other Avengers he becomes way less interesting. Comic book Thor is far more awesome than MCU Thor. Spoilerfor a start he genuinely is the norse God of Thunder. He has a wayward backstory as an arrogant Viking warrior, he's thousands of years old and his family's messed up even without Loki. He spent a lifetime trapped in the body of a crippled Doctor to learn humility and ends up caught between two worlds, going through all the trials from Norse mythology and facing up to alien/supernatural threats on the side. He's pretty much Marvel's answer to Superman with how powerful he is. Ultimate comics had a nice twist on the story too: Spoilerwith him starting out claiming to be a God but seeming like a delusional superhero and then slowly turning out to be the genuine article. He's not my favorite comic book character but he's up there.
