Studies have shown that exposing kids under a certain age (like 10 I believe) to 3D visuals is not very good for their eye health or development. It's been one factor in me not getting a 3DS for the boys. That said, the 2DS can give them access to the Zelda, Mario, and Pokemon games they want on the platform at a highly discounted cost. Not the most revolutionary thing in the world, but a nice alternative.
