Metal Gear Solid 2 is the first MGS game of the PS2 era and it pulls no punches. With not one, but two protagonists we get to see Solid Snake like we never have before.

MGS2 brought many gameplay aspects that have been with the series since: Holding guards up, searching their bodies, dragging their dead/sleeping/knocked out selves away from open areas to hide them in lockers of which you can use yourself should you need to. This games story is one of identity, censorship, population and internet control. If anything this game is more important today than it was during its release in 2001, and for that alone I have to recommend this title.

If there is any downsides to MGS2 its the long winded cutscenes and codec conversations that interrupt the flow off the game; "Do you know what day tomorrow is, Jack?" Luckily this title has enough gameplay and replay value to make up for it.
