Almost ten years after I quit, no MMO has captured my attention as wholly as Final Fantasy XI. The magic wasn't in the gameplay or the story, but the good times spent with new friends that lived miles away and the adventures we had together. What made it better than any other MMO (and what was eventually its downfall) was its reliance on group play to accomplish anything. But that's what drove the friendships home and made them deeper, and for that and those friends it gave me, XI holds a very special place in my heart and in my life.
