Not just a film about Robert McNamara - though his insight and honesty make him a worthy subject of any documentary - but mostly a look at some of the most traumatic events of the 20th century - WW2, Vietnam, the Cold War - as well as the nature of warfare itself. A film which imaginatively uses virtually every tool the medium of cinema has at its disposal and is about as close to perfect as a documentary has ever gotten in my opinion.
