Another nice update by Namco of an old arcade name. Unlike most shooters there isn't any scrolling here, all the action takes place on a single screen as waves come at you from all sides. Nor is the name of the game survival, as this is very easy as far as shooters go. The real challenge is defeating the mother ships/bugs, or as more often the case, chain explosions to blow up the main enemy as quickly as possible. Compared to other arcade revival games it lacks the effort of the recent Space Invaders games or the addictive, crank-to-11 genius of Pac-Man Championship DX. Overall a nice if unsubstantive throwback.
