Appearently satisfied with Super Mario Land 2, Nintendo handed over the handheld platforming duties to Wario, which would evolve into a more puzzle oriented approach compared to Mario's usual fare. The first Warioland is sort of a game in transition between Mario and Wario's later signature style platformers, but is a great game nonetheless. The objective to this game is to not only progress threw the levels but to collect as much money and hidden treasures as possible. How much loot you are able to secure effects Wario's reward at the end of the game, encouraging multiple playthroughs.
