Frustratiing game to say the least. Good art style, a couple of good new characters, and some nice extras are on one side of the scale. Unfortunately the balance is TERRIBLE. So bad it seriously damaged the competitive scene, which the series still hasn't fully recovered from. And I don't just mean the game-breaking exploits. Even casual players will notice huge discrepancies in character balance, with some characters being badly nerfed. The later arcade version ironically addressed most of the balance issues but of course few got a chance to play that version. Could have been the best Soul Calibur had they done a thorough job (of what should be the main priority of any fighting game) but instead is merely enjoyable.
