Yeah, I read all the books and saw all the movies. I totally understand some of the hate it gets--i.e., how Bella and Edward's dumb relationship fits many criteria of an abusive relationship and how Bella's pathetic self-loathing being idealized is a horrible message for teens. The hate for it I don't like is because it's "girly," which seems to be the majority of the criticism aimed at it. Like, fuck off with that sexist crap. I got sucked into the series because I actually read New Moon first (hadn't known it was the second part of a series), which, while a bit obnoxious because of Bella and Edward's simultaneous and prolonged moping, delves into the lore of the Volturi. The lore is the reason I stuck with the whole series--I actually cared little for the love factor. I consider it a guilty pleasure. And yes, I know that Breaking Dawn is hilariously awkward. : )
