To me, this game was slightly worse than the first. The first certainly had better characters, and the atmosphere was fresh. This game improves upon the gameplay of the first, so it balances out. Some people said this game did not need to be made; I vehemently disagree. It creates symmetry with the first game, as Sofia Lamb contrasts Andrew Ryan. They are opposites, as Ryan is the model of objectivist society, the type who wants every man for himself, you get what ever your work produces. Lamb is the opposite, basically communist. Both ways failed the city of Rapture, demonstrating the negative effects of the extremes of society. That's why the game needed to be made, and although the story was worse, it was still a memorable experience.
