Back in 2006 I entered the cinema thinking - or, rather, hoping - that maybe someone had finally made a movie based on a video game that was halfway watchable. But alas. Another disappointment. Take Silent Hill, strip it of all the aspects that make it mysterious and interesting, add some gimmicks like Pyramid Head or bits and pieces of the original soundtrack in order to fool original fans that they are somehow being catered for - and voila, a substandard waste of time for everyone concerned. Except for the set designers, they actually did a good job. But script? Direction? Forget it. I'm told the sequel is even worse, but I'd be barking mad if I was to waste my time on another cinematic atrocity, especially when it's better spent drooling over another playthrough video of the Silent Hills teaser on Youtube. Alas, alas. Alas.
