"Darksiders 2" builds successfully upon the formula of the prequel and even manages to give players some new incentives, such as the Diablo-esk loot system. As the Apocalyptic Horseman Death you will traverse dungeons connected by extensive semi-open world maps, solve equipment-based puzzles and master Parkour-like obstacles that will make you feel like playing a mash-up of "Zelda" and "Prince of Persia". Visceral combos, crisp controls and different enemies keep the combat fun and engaging. Sadly, the story never really developes any weight or significance, and the ending feels more than just a little bit rushed. Add to this the wonky port to PC (gradually being fixed) and you have a good game that falls just short of greatness.
