Except having porn stars in the lists obviously makes some people uncomfortable and besides that it makes the site a lot less kid friendly.

I was never under the impression this was a kid centric site, merely to try and keep things PG-13 which fully clothed porn stars would be within (you'd be able to post that on say Facebook and some porn websites have a page on there). Should we also avoid using bad words because someone somewhere might get their knickers in a knot? Not to mention there's some crossover, some porn actresses have acted in non porn movies and vica verca, sometimes quite famously.

Saved!Rich .Editing … Personally I just find ranking porn a really weird thing to do because it's normally a private thing. I'd guess new members and especially women are going to find a bunch of guys they don't already know posting a porn star all over a site outright creepy though. As for kids I agree PG-13's probably the right kind of guideline for the site, I still think it's a bit dodgy to be publicising a porn star all over it if the site's aimed at all ages though.

That way, you can still express what you like even if it's a porn actress but won't affect the rankings. Some might not like it, but it looks to be a good compromise. -
Saved!Halcyon SpiritEditing … Not sure that will go down too well with some people :D, but it seems like it's a trade-off that I personally can live with. Because as it is now, the act of allowing porn stars on the actress list is that it might set a precedence for abuse from other users. I've witnessed once 'family-friendly' websites of valuable user input reduced to troll havens where fap material is made readily accessible and constantly bumped to the front page. In the end an overhaul was what it took to reduce the spate of smut albeit at the expense of genuinely creative material receiving less promotions. It's on the mend but so many past members have either left or no longer function as the active participant they once were; the damage had already been done. Though you may suggest I'm extrapolating from specific cases, even so, I don't think it's wise to dismiss any slim possibility of something similar from happening here. A stitch in time saves nine I'd say. -

Most people sit in the serious corner regarding acting etc. so a bigger user base would drown out less popular choices. Regardless, there is no 'fap' content on the site, people were just overreacting. @firstworldproblems

Saved!Halcyon SpiritEditing … I don’t think you have any way of knowing it with absolute certainty; in this site's case, it's about preventing a child from becoming aware of the porn actor's existence thereby reducing the chance of him/her searching for their material, I presume that's what Pape's suggestion was grounded on, SFW or NSFW. At any rate, I trust the mods can work out some sort of a mutually amicable solution for everyone.

As for parenting, unmonitored internet access for minors is preventable. They can just as easily type "pictures of naked ladies" as anything else if no one is there to guide them.

Saved!Halcyon SpiritEditing … I tried it before, those hyperlinks are blocked by my ISP as per government's legislation to combat piracy in my country. There are workarounds obviously but only with the know-how, porn on the other hand is pretty much instantaneous and not beset by such inconveniences. As for Napster, I never knew you can use it to dl movies as well as music if that's what you meant. Not all parents can keep a close watch of their children's activities every step of the way whenever they're logged on. It's not exactly their fault, parents have to keep to their particular work schedule and can't always tend to their supervision.

Saved!Bob GutSmashaEditing … Napster is no more complex than any modern torrent program, my point being that children are technology adapted and have been for some time. Just as an ISP can block content (like the piratebay) so can parents invest in internet filters, even free ones, or use the we browser's own blacklist features. If parents are not home then internet filters and computer or router passwords exist. I'm not unsympathetic but there is very little room for excuse outside of ignorance here.

I can only speak for myself but I wouldn't honestly rank a pr0n actress in my "favorite actresses of all genres" list. Mostly because they're *performers*, not actors – and very "specific" performers at that. (Sure, there are also those pr0n girls with additional "real" movie roles but most pr0n girls aren't actresses). Right now there isn't a way to categorize them as such, which is why they are categorized as actresses and/or models instead. If there was a pr0n star / pr0n performer category and a respective "Favorite Pr0n Performers" list, there wouldn't be so much fun behind the joke of treating Hitomi as an actress. Not giving them points for being ranked is arbitrary and opressing. FL should either allow pr0n with an effective NSFW-system behind it or completely ban it – not this larifari in-between shit that is happening right now. — And the fact that parents are lazily parking their kids in front of a PC, TV or gaming device is not the fault of FL, so it shouldn't be its responsibility either to parent their kids for them.

I'm just saying, it's not quite as simple as tossing all the porn stars in a box and hiding them away. What will the judgment be based on? Initial google results?

Saved!Bob GutSmashaEditing … The most headache free solution is to just ban 'actual' pornographic content which is (far as I can tell) what is currently in place. There are still areas for argument, like what is the difference between classical nudity (in art) vs. modern nudity but I think most people will agree on dividing them and allowing Roman sculptures etc regardless. What sparked these debates however was people being offended by cleavage (which is not pornographic content) and not fundamentally different to, for example, this entry http://www.favslist.com/pages/Isabella-Ivy-Valentine/3907 I think it's harder for people to argue their case here since it's not A) nudity, or B) pornographic, they are just offended by the partial view of a female torso in a way they aren't of a male torso. Why? Probably because we have objectified female bodies so much that, I guess, we instantly associate it with sex.

Hitomi Tanaka is a porn actress, she doesn’t have any other job, she is a gravure idol (so she poses in a suggestive manner, hence the change of the picture) and she makes adults videos. I think we shouldn’t be here for grading what is not « public », this would be disregarding towards the other users of Favslist. Since we’re talking about a Japanese person, I will allow myself to give you an exemple : In mangas, they don’t get Ecchi with Hentai mixed up. So, approximately, they don’t compare nudity (which can be seen without limit age, +13 or +16 depending on the intensity of the scene, and the sexual act which is +18). Here, no one compared nudity to porn so it’s no use to reuse the same argument, we all agree on this point. Concerning Ivy, from Soul Calibur, excluding her breast, I don’t see any comparison with Hitomi Tanaka. And concerning the nudists beach, we’re talking about nudity here, like in Art (David Statue, etc). What is offending is wanting to turn a website originally « all public » into an « adult website ». I think nobody will stop me if I say that the main role of Favslist is sharing. But here it is : everything can’t be shared with everyone, especially for age restrictions or ethic matters. My sister who is 14 is on Favslist, she really appreciates it, but if the community is no longer able to make the difference between a porn actress and a real actress, or again a video game character, I think some users will just have to leave and see somewhere else what they’re looking for.

Saved!Bob GutSmashaEditing … The debate genuinely began over the cleavage "It really pisses me off to see her hudge breast on the main page," hence the change of picture. Mind you, I'm not against the site banning pornographic categories (or against any measure really, the website is privately owned so they can do whatever they want with it) however, in its current state it is not a site designed around children. There are R rated films and other media listed on the site (such as Natural Born Killers, again: rape, pleasure killing, etc.) that are not appropriate for children. Again though, none of those entries (including the Hitomi) contain their respective R rated materials. There is no pornographic content, nor is there graphic violence on the site; the site just allows people to rank references to that material. Keep in mind too, there are no conduct guidelines for the forum or comment channels: you can discuss any and all topics with any kind of language you like, Favslist as it currently stands is not a site for children, so removing one category on those grounds is pointless.

We WILL build Favslist for everyone. While we build the website for everyone, even your mom and whatever, I will ask everyone NOT to push material that is linked to pornographic content on the front page or whatever. I'm the one who change the Hitomi picture for that reason. I don't mind if you rank that actress for personal reasons but if you insist on sharing that with the WHOLE community but trying to rank her1st in every lists for example, you will force my hand and I will have to take measures towards that content that you will not like. So please, give me the chance and time to address this issue so I can TRY to please everyone. Believe me, I'm really trying here.
