I spent countless hours in the demo alone that came with a PC game magazine. I had no idea of the amazement to come due to the near infinite mods that had different effect on the gameplay. It's a shame that I didn't get a good online connection until after this game was being played - I wasn't comfortable playing this on 56K, especially when a 5MB mod may mean 5 minutes per megabyte. I still had loads of fun with the very competent bots which to this day is hard to find good bots in modern shooters. Sure, games have great and complex AI in campaigns, but the bots in something like Call of Duty: Black Ops are a joke compared to the bots in the original Unreal Tournament released more than 10 years prior. The single player campaign isn't the most engrossing, engaging and involved campaign out of good shooters, but I enjoyed playing it since I loved the core mechanics of the gun play, weapon variety, movement system, pickups and level design. Oh, and I loved the music.
