Now the great debate among fans regarding which Sonic is best happens to be a three-way war between Sonic 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. From there, it all boils down to personal preference. If you haven't already figured it out, mine is S3&K. Colorful, varying environments, bosses at the end of every single stage, an unusual emphasis on story, fourteen special stages to complete/Emeralds to collect, three playable characters (each of whom has a unique stage layout and boss difficulty), eight save slots, and multiple endings...two of which feature an extra very definitely super final boss. It's just so extensive, no wonder it had to be on a 32MB cartridge (or TWO separate standard cartridges, as it so turned out).
