On the bumpy road Sonic traversed over the 2000-2009 decade, Dimps was often welcomed as an excellent developer of 2D games for the blue blur amidst a mess of varying other titles. Perhaps their most cited work is the Sonic Advance series, featuring well laid out linear sidescrolling levels filled with slick mechanics.

Which is the best of the three is debatable. For me, the third time's the charm. Sonic Advance 3 used a tag team system that paired up two characters, changing one's capabilities depending on who their partner was and giving them unique combined moves. For the GBA, it was remarkably rich in detail and proved to be one of the console's last great games before the original DS took up the mantle.
