Maniac Mansion wasn't a favorite of mine, but the sequel improved the original game's formula in every way possible. It wasn't just a graphical revamp. It features a colorful cast of unique characters, from a fat rock band roadie to a nerdy girl with a bad hair day. They travel through time to try and stop the plans of Purple Tentacle.

Along they way, they meet up with George Washington, effeminate beauty pageant guys and sly IRS workers who look more like agents of the FBI. No other point-and-click ever matched up to the bizarre humor and the cinematic production values of Day of the Tentacle.
