"Dear Esther" is a wonderfully melancholic journey through the beautiful nature of – what seems to be – a dark and desolate island.

As beautiful as the scenery is, there's not much fun to draw out of the gameplay. But that's okay. It's not a gameplay-driven game, period. And it's different than the mainstream games. I like different.

The piano and ambient music fits the mood established by the visuals splendidly, and the voice work of the narrator is top-notch.

There's also something to be said about the unique narration-driven story. I'll leave that for someone else, though … (It neither impressed nor appalled me. Meh.)
