whoever said that bicycling is significantly cheaper than having a car clearly has no idea what he's talking about.

    ergonomic saddle - 150 €
    gloves from Roeckl - 55€
    3x chain spray - 42€
led light from Trelock - 34€
    sprocket wheel & chain - 90€

    I'M BROKE.

Editing … Lol, that's nothing. My brothers bike is carbon this and that, it really did cost more than my car, the insurance, road tax and the running costs for an entire year combined.

Editing … My road tax is £250 a year, the MOT test this year was £100 and my insurance is about £500 a year. Plus petrol at £1.30 a litre..... it can get very expensive once you start adding in things like tyres at £80 a go.

Editing … For people my age, this is not the right time to have your own house or your own car. It's very complicated, taxes are going up every month and insurances only make things harder. If you can just stay at your parents' for awhile, keep your job, save money and hope for a change...these are dark times, we're living in :(

Editing … There is actually no need to own a car here. I can get unlimited bus usage for £9.80 a week and there is a bus on every route every 10 minutes up until 11pm. Plus I get my shopping delivered by the supermarket for £2.50. I like having my car but financially it makes no sense whatsoever. I have a company vehicle too, my car gets used like once a week at most. I also have a bike, but that gets used once a year :P

Editing … The EU (UE) won't let Portugal officially declare bankrupcy, they don't want to lose a country to potentially suck money from. We're not going anywhere, but things will get worse...ALOT worse, mark those words. If the crisis was only in Portugal it wouldn't be too much of a deal, but the thing is that in 2009 it magnified to a worldwide problem (some countries get away from it better than others). So the best we can do is just do the best in our power to maintain our job, and avoid increasing our costs as much as possible (getting a house or car). Not to say you can't spend money anywhere, in fact spending money is a small contribution to the economy...

Editing … Yeah but it's not like it's our (or at least my case), by the end of the month there's not a penny left in the bank just because of life expenses. That doesn't help much the economy either but it's not like we can do much about it.

Editing … We can't do, literally, anything. It would be one thing if all this was caused by society, but it wasn't. It was caused by excess corruption, terrible decisions and "big shots" who just don't give a f*** about the poor...
