What I thought was gonna be dissapointing, cliche'd and not scary...actually ended up being impressive, refreshing and disturbing. This was, without a doubt, the best horror movie i've seen since Paranormal Activity!

The reason why you are so invested, why you immerse yourself into this story is because the characters are well developed. They are not the overdone stupid family, which we know nothing about, who go to a haunted house and refuse to leave because...this family has issues we can relate to. We believe this is a true family, and that's why this movie is scary - because we care about this family, and we don't want them to suffer or get killed. THIS is how you make a scary movie!

Now the movie had issues. Right from the start I realized this was gonna be riddled with jump scares, which kind of worried me. There were some pretty bad jump scares, but there were also some that were really well done.

If you're into this sort of stories, you will like this movie!
