A perfectly fine action title with a terrible plot. I don't know what inspired Sakamoto to stop completely ripping off Alien (A Cease and Desist letter, maybe?) but he should have never stopped. His attempts at characterization are laughable and dated. Plot aside, the game is quite fun. It's got some weird quirks (first-person aiming?) but everything else works like it's supposed to. The game certainly has its problems and is probably the worst console Metroid title but it's still a solid game. As someone who dislikes how directionless most Metroid titles are, I liked the linear approach this one took. Not a terrible game and certainly not one to be missed considering how cheap it is now.
