JJ Abrams stated that you should be able to follow Into Darkness without having seen any other Star Trek film, but that's palpable nonsense, the whole film is full of so many references to classic Star Trek moments that you can only *really* enjoy it if you've seen the original series as well as The Wrath of Khan (which is still my favourite Star Trek film). Still, the pace of this film is so frenetic that you don't really have to time to stop and go "Huh? What? Why? Huh?", which ironically means that overall I liked it. And Cumberbatch, I mean Cucumberpatch IS great - in fact he seems to be great in anything he appears in and it's only a question of time before he wins an Oscar.
