When everyone was buying an NES, they were probably mesmerized by Super Mario Bros.'s pure excellent and boundary-breaking gameplay. But if they wanted to buy another launch title, they didn't have to look any further than Excitebike, one of those "easy to learn, difficult to master" kind of games (in other words, the BEST kind of games). It's got simplistic visuals, music, and gameplay, but it all fits into one of the most impressive launch titles of any console in history. But probably the most mind-boggling of all is the inclusion of a goddamn LEVEL EDITOR. Yeah, and this is a game that LAUNCHED ALONGSIDE THE NES. While it didn't save your work, the fact that you could make your own tracks was incredible. What a great game.
