While not my favorite in the entire franchise, Mega Man 2 is easily my favorite in the original series (MM3 doesn't even come close in my opinion). There was so much innovation added here that stuck with the series from then on. From the visual design of the power-ups to the amount of robot masters to the addition of a somewhat simple password system, MM2 laid the groundwork that future installments would only build upon. And do I need to mention the music? No, because you already know how amazing it is. MM2 also succeeds with its difficulty. I've never felt that the second installment of the Mega Man series was as difficult as everyone else makes it out to be. With all this and more, Mega Man 2 is one of the defining 8-bit classics.
