After the disappointing Ruby/Sapphire, whoda thunk I would pick up the "Director's Cut" version anyway? Maybe it was because I didn't fathom my dissatisfaction at a young age, but either way I was pleasantly surprised by Emerald's additions. While I didn't appreciate Wallace replacing Steven as Champion, it didn't change the fact that the endgame bonuses actually elongated the game. You know what I'm talking about: the Battle Frontier. Featuring batshit crazy mazes and some of the best battle music of ANY RPG, this staple would become mandatory in future installments because of how much it offered out of essentially GEN II's Battle Tower on steroids. The Battle Frontier makes this easily the best of the GEN III trilogy.
