I got inscryption and it is really good! Nobody I know likes board games so it's nice to play this game with a at least a simulated person. I don't even care if they are a shadow monster who wants do do bad things to me.

I also like the talking cards. I got attached to them. I think they are my friends.

Editing … " I think they are my friends." Yeah, the stout fixed my computer for me. What a guy! Weird that he knew how to do that.

Editing … Great game though. If acts two and three were as good as the first it would be a 10/10. Hopefully Pony Island 2 is Mullins' best game to date.

Editing … I thought Pony Island was good, but unremarkable and The Hex was just ok. I still have high hopes for Inscryption though

Editing … I skipped the Hex. The meta-humor and easter eggs in Pony Island were delightful but the puzzles tried my patience. I wound up resorting to a guide a lot just to see the story through. Inscryption's gameplay is (mostly) a lot more what I wanted to see, and also does the cool stuff Pony Island does so well. But like I said, the game's first chunk is dramatically superior to the rest. Yet I'm incredibly invested in this shared universe now. I can't help but smile whenever Goobert comes on screen. I'm not sure there's another talent in gaming doing what Mullins does, so I'm excited to see what he does next.

Editing … Wait so it gets worse after this? I hope they won't make me stop playing cards with the shadow monster. He's a good dungeon master. Stout's face became weird though. I think it's my fault for dying so much but it can't be helped because I cant cheese it and quit and go back to my previous save. Oh I see the green slime thing I found is called Goobert? I wanted to let him out of his flask but the text on the table told me not to so I listened to the table.

Editing … Act 3 is better than Act 2, so yes, but Act 1 reigns supreme. Act 2 is also the shortest. The story also gets much more interesting and meta as you go which helped carry me along. But like I said, it would be a 10/10 game if the second and third act were of a similar standard to the first, and the game as a whole falls rather short of that.

Editing … Okay, I'll try to push through. I just don't understand why you would make your game switch over like that to a really crappy pokemon-like game when you have such an interesting and well executed 3D card game that I could easily keep playing for hundreds of hours if you just give me more bosses to fight. It's like the developers were not able to see the gap in quality. Going from S class to C teir. It's not horrible but it just feels like something I really liked was taken away from me. And my "Death Bringer" card I made! It's dead. D-:

Editing … If the game didn't reinvent itself the way it does it just wouldn't be a Daniel Mullins game. It would be like asking characters in a Yorgos Lanthimos movie to stop talking and behaving like lunatics. Mullins likes adding metatextual layers to his stories and its what makes them memorable. Even in the indie sphere we have countless cookie-cutter metroidvania clones I can barely remember after the credits roll, but I'm never going to forget Inscryption.

Editing … PS After you beat the main story you unlock Kaycee's mod, which is just the gameplay from the first act but more randomized, with escalating levels of difficulty. If you greatly enjoyed the first Act, Kaycee's mod will push your skills to their limit.

Editing … Kaycee's mod isn't a fan mod. Kaycee is the fictional character who created the Inscryption floppy disk, so it's a mod to the game within a game you're playing, and should be included in all versions.
