If you battle the emperor during free play, the game will crash if he electrocutes you, unless you quickly switch characters to escape his lightning.
During cutscenes, you can move around by quickly switching characters, and you can kill the other characters and sometimes break the cutscenes.
If you rapidly switch characters during free play, you can float your way across wide gaps.
