I just bought a Switch on Ebay. Surprisingly cheap for an unpatched model, and in great condition. Gonna mod it when it arrives.

Editing … Be on the lookout when modding your Switch. There's some shitty / outdated guides out there.

Editing … I wasn't scared because I don't care one bit about my Switch. It's a horrible hardware and most of the games you can play on emulator anyway. The last time I booted up my Switch was months ago. Maybe even half a year ago.

Editing … Emulation for sure. I want to emulate some older games and play them on tv but I also want to play portable and switch can do both at the same time. I use the function a lot. I play on tv and when I feel like it I just take it out of the dock and play somewhere else or take it on the train with me. It's the ideal emulation station for me. Hopefully the switch 2 does the same thing with more power.

Editing … I literally hacked my Vita to be able to lower brightness. Although it came w other benefits like being able to lower volume from the quick menu. That's the only sort of thing that would motivate me to hack a Switch. I want to be able change volume brightness like a Vita or Steam deck can. (begs the question why I don't just get a Steam deck..) I also want to create button profiles for specific games which the Switch currently can't do. But hacking can't fix other things wrong w the Switch, like the shoulder buttons and plus button. (but I could just buy third party joycons that fix that)

Editing … If the Switch can emulate PS2 that would be pretty neat. On the whole though I don't care about emulators. Like wow check out all these crummy old games you can play literally on any device you already have in your house. Gee whiz.

Editing … There are many games that were never ported to any other platform. Some of them I really want to play but they cost way too much. It's also nice to know that when all my consoles die there is still a way to play my games and I will not have to deal with stupid online services to pay for the games I already own again only to rent them and not own the files. I am excited to try out the dolphin emulator. I want to play the original windwaker in widescreen and 4k. I don't like the look of the hd port but emulating it on dolphin with texture packs looks really good.

Editing … The Wii U is supposed to be the best emulation console, as it can play pretty much every Nintendo system besides 3DS and Switch, plus it can emulate other older consoles up to the PS1. From what I heard, the Switch can't emulate past N64.

Editing … Switch is more powerful than wiiu so I would guess that in a few years they will find a way to run everything wiiu can. Otherwise yes wii u does seem like a great emulator. I've been thinking about getting one but I'm still holding out for the switch emulator option because I want portable mode.

Editing … I'm not sure it's entirely because of the system's power, so much as because the Wii U basically has a Wii inside, which kind of means it also has a Gamecube inside. It doesn't bruteforce emulation for those machines, which the Switch would have to do.

Editing … Yes it's not power alone but also architecture of course and the wii u is special in that regard, but I've seen people play gamecube on a switch so I still have some hopium left. Otherwise.... Maybe switch 2?
