I keep hearing this Fortune Street "confirm" sound effect in my left ear (or something that sounds similar to that) :

It happens every 5-10 seconds. It's incredibly quiet and I can only hear it if there's absolute silence in the room. It does not affect my daily life (yet), but it does get a bit annoying before I fall asleep. Though even then, I wouldn't say that it bothers me that much. It is weird though, and I went to the doctor today. She looked into my ears and didn't see anything out of the ordinary, so I received a specialist referral to ENT.

Anyone here who had similar symptoms? Since there doesn't seem to be dirt in my ear or an insect singing me a tune at night, surely there must be something wrong deep inside me? Brain tumor? DEATH?! AM I GOING INSANE?!

Editing … I've had a persistent ringing in both ears for over a decade. It really sucked at first, but now it's only a nuisance when there isn't any other noise to cover it up. If yours doesn't go away, it'll at least stop sucking as much as it does at the start.

Editing … The doctor didn't find anything suspicious and my ears are apparently very clean. However, those noises might come because of slightly rough skin inside my nose, which might lead to irritation in the ear and the perceived sound. I should do a "pressure balance" by inhaling in air, closing my nose and mouth and then swallowing (something you would probably do on a plane to get the pressure out of your ears). And I got a nasal spray so that the skin inside my nose isn't that rough anymore. All in all, it's pretty much a non-issue (so no brain tumor I guess). I can hardly hear the sound anymore, unless I really concentrate on it. I guess my body got used to that sound.
