Someones offering their barely used 512gb steam deck for 410 usd. Should I take it? I didn't imagine I'd ever get a steam deck so this would be rather out of pocket for me. Don't even know what I'd play on it that would actually run decently. Pizza Tower? lol

(well, barring the need to have the tutorial open on another device.) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=igHk4wdWtxs I could use it to play all the classics, like Paper Mario Color Splash and... well, whatever else is out there.

Editing … You don't need the latest and most expensive hardware to be in the PC master race! Rockshard also hasn't shown much interest in the latest or most advanced AAA games, so if he built a PC he should look at used GPUs for a discount. At under $800 he'd probably be able to emulate pretty much any console he wanted, and max out most PC games from before 2020.

Editing … I wouldn't emulate on PC, the experience is terrible. It's better to do so on PSP and Vita as it's mostly indistinguishable from playing the game on its original hardware. No having to fiddle with a mouse or adjusting the window size/placement. The *only* thing you have to worry about is performance. This is on top of them being handhelds, that is. The only things I'd need a PC for is games/genres that absolutely need to be played w a mouse such as RTS, city builders, and the like. That plus Magic Arena. (I tried playing it on tablet it was awful) The exception being Sonic P-06 if it's ever fully done, and only because PC is the only way to play it. (say, if it's ever released for steam deck, I could get one just for that reason)

Or maybe it means these things are everywhere now and I need to get w the program. Switch emulation is actually a reason I'd consider getting one especially if it turns out to be a better way to play Switch games than an actual Switch.

And they put one right where your fingers would touch it while holding it! It's on the underside at least, but they could have put it dead center, or middle top. Somewhere out of the way.

Editing … "I see you've never done it before, or not in the last 10 years at least." ??? ... you are implying that something about emulating improved within the last 10 years? From my standpoint everything is the exact same it's been since the zsnes days. Not a single emulator I've tried is even able to remember what you were playing when you closed it and put you exactly where you left off, like PSP and Vita do, even though it should have been trivial to add this feature into emulators. I think that would have been, like, the bare minimum. But no, everything is literally just zsnes but for a different system. For the most powerful consoles like PS3 I imagine it's even worse, as they probably run terribly on average, and more steps are involved to get them to work at all, and don't get me started on download sizes..

However it's only $325 and I don't really have another plan for acquiring a deck. (but.. I also don't really need one so... yeah)

If you have a choice to go oled the choice should always be yes unless you are impoverished and can't afford it at all even with a payment plan.

But the game uses the start button a lot, and the Vita's start button is pretty mid. (the N64's start button was literally a regular button, lol.) I would consider taking apart the system and padding up the start/select buttons, but if I go that far then it no longer counts. It's not the same as say a homebrew or plugin that in theory anyone could download and use.
