I think most people disliked the realistic art direction for this movie, but my biggest complaint was actually the voice acting. There were like four standout performances (Rafiki!), and I really disliked the rest.
Someone showed me a clip of the Japanese dub, and I decided to give it a watch, and it makes the movie pretty fantastic.
