My playthrough is going really well. I did aim to get every steam achievement in one go but that's not going to happen now, I'll have to do it in 2 runs, I'm doing good though I've got 28 cheevos and I'm only in October.

Editing … I never got the appeal of achievements except for the secret dastardly achievement in RDR That one was funny. Maybe someday I will finish P4. But I would have to rebuy it again because I don't have it anymore. So many versions of it now.

Editing … I dunno I'm probably weird but achievements just feel too "videogamey" to me. Also most of the time the achievements are not things I am interested in doing. I always saw the achievements as a chore tbh. But if you like them you're lucky because you get more game out of your game.

Editing … I don't go for the online multiplayer ones so I'll never get 100% on most games, but sometimes I think I can do that game on hardcore so lets have a go at that acheivement and I do get more joy(and frustration) out of a game. I guess I get more hours for my £

Editing … I'm also a big fan of playing on the hardest difficulty. I don't do it for every game cuz sometimes it doesn't seem as fun, but right now I'm playing Days Gone on "Survival II" mode, the hardest difficulty (out of six, Normal being second easiest) and it's a blast.

Editing … I hate choosing difficulty. I can never do it. I just want to play the intended difficulty but it's not always apparent which of the options is the indented setting. I like that old games have no option. It's just inherently hard and if you can't do it you're just not good enough. I respect that even if I'm often not good enough.

Editing … I like that whole flair of those old games, locked in difficulty being just one aspect. Figuring out the controls yourself instead of walls-of-text popups and hand-holding. Being stuck at a level for weeks or months instead of looking it up online – let alone, watching on TV how someone else plays it, figures it out or looks it up. The reward of disocvering the next level after being stuck for so long. — While it wasn't all better back then, I still miss that flair. Video games are so vastly different nowadays.

Editing … I think you're right, the problem with games today, for me anyway, is that they're all the same. Nothing much excites me. That Plague Tale got me hyped but it turned out to be shit, just another game like all the rest.

Editing … I can appreciate story-centric games with merely passable gameplay, but A Plague Tale's story wasn't nearly enough to carry the experience. The sort of story that gets acclaim simply because our standards are really low for video game stories.

Editing … Red dead 2 is the same. It looks incredible, the snow crushes under my horses feet like actual real snow. It's beautiful, it's a work of art. But 2 hours in all I've done is push the buttons they told me to push. I tried to go explore and my game ended when I went 100ft from my yellow target. Am I just following a movie story here? Because if so I'd rather just watch the damn movie then press buttons to allow the movie to continue.

Editing … Wow, he gets two bests and you still don't trust him enough to keep playing? Must be a frustrating game. I normally don't get hooked by Rockstar's games, but RDR & Undead Nightmare were the only games of theirs I really clicked with, so hopefully I'll like RDR2. Funnily, I do love crime sandboxes from other developers.

Editing … that's too bad. I really liked rdr. I I hope I will like rdr2 but I can imagine me having the same problems as nod because my brain hates doing the same thing over and over. If Ive seen it once I don't want to see it again.

Editing … Maybe it'll be like GTA for me, and I'll play it for a little while, and then quit before the story's done because there's really fuck all to do in those games.

Editing … I could never get into the story of gta games. I just want to cause as much destruction as I can in the shortest amount of time possible with the coolest car on the road. I have never played any story parts. I just let other people do that for me so I can play with the late game aeroplanes. RDR is different I actually wanted to play the story. It was good.
