Well, I have to say our visit to Paris was overwhelmingly positive. I have nothing bad to say, maybe the prices are a bit high but whatevs. Everybody I met was extremely pleasant, I never felt unsafe or anything. It's right up there with Munich for me.

Years ago when I visited there were tons of rough sleepers in doorways asking quite aggressively sometimes for money but I didn't see much this time.

Editing … We got talking to some people who stayed right in the centre of Paris. They said they saw a peaceful march past their hotel and there was garbage piled up everywhere but they never saw the rape and pillage shenanigans the news are reporting.

Editing … I was there in August, cheap studio apartment by the Boucicaut metro station. Dunno if there were any Paris protests around then, but I stopped reading the news a while ago, it's pretty tight. Mona was a fine dame, but you gotta view her from afar.

Editing … Mhm, mhm … I really like the artist's choice to contrast the strong color of the banana with the simplistic white of the canvas. It really highlights the tightly adhered ducktape, and brings out the banana's desire to be liberated.

Editing … Where are you from? I'd never heard it before my trip to Paris, where I heard it at least once a day. On my last day there, I heard three separate street performers singing it. Now I just think of it as "that song Parisians really, really love"--I'd hear crowds request street performers to play it, and singing along to the chorus. In the metro, this one guy just repeated the chorus for over five minutes, as some nearby youngsters sang along.

Editing … I dunno, here in the Netherlands it was a popular song as well back in like 2010 when it came out. I really don't get why it became so popular but everyone loved it and sang it all the time. Maybe it has to do with that it was a football song for the 2010 FIFA world cup. Maybe French people are nostalgic or maybe in France it has been on some popular show recently? Maybe the lyrics speak to the spirit of French demonstrators to "pick themselves up and brush themselves off"? Why can't people let that song die? It's so annoying.
