I just watched another movie about the same thing called The one that got away. A lot of things differ between each story telling. In this film Chris Ryan(the one that got away) is wise and always right and the others are crap and he singlehandedly kills a truck full of iraqis and even kills one with his knife. Really doesn't sound the most believeable tbh.
