So I finally completed this game on Crushing via the Legacy of Thieves collection for PS5. I think I have a lot of the same gripes I had the first time. The pacing feels off with long stretches of no combat and then non stop action at other times. Oftentimes it felt like it was just being padded out in the more open worldy sections like the Jeep and boat sections but there wasn't any mechanic to make using those vehicles any fun and they just ended up being tedious and boring. The game is absolutely gorgeous graphically, the score is beautiful, and the voice acting is top notch. The overall story about pirates and Libertalia was interesting and there was a lot to be had on the backstory with he addition of notes and such. Throwing in a random brother character in the final game was a weird choice that I didn't feel like it worked. After just having played the first 3 to suddenly have Nathan be all about is big bro felt forced. At no point did I care about Sam, he constantly made the wrong choice and it made me annoyed to have to bother saving his ass. The combat and climbing in this game were the most refined of the series and made for some fun sequences.

Editing … Also this got me thinking, it would be awesome if Naughty Dog just used this engine and made a pirate game playing out the whole rise and fall of Libertalia as it happened. I mean they've already got most of the story written and concept art for all the pirates and the map of Libertalia. You could play as Thomas Tew.
