I think my biggest issue with DS9 and Voyager so far is that these crews are always in peril, always going through dangerous scenarios. Few episodes offer interesting thought experiments or moral dilemmas. Sometimes an episode will involve an interesting premise, but rather than give it any in-depth exploration, the show tries to shadow it in mystery, saving a twist reveal for the end of the episode. This disappoints me. This isn't the Star Trek I enjoy.

Maybe when Star Trek becomes fully serialized, I'll find something else to enjoy in it. Right now I feel like I'm watching a shallow imitation of TOS or TNG.

I've finished Voyager S2, and am close to ending S4 of DS9. So far I think I prefer Voyager. Has some pretty cool episodes. Death Wish and Tuvix :( stood out, at the end of the second season.

Editing … That's literally Tuvix, only the math is worse: Killing one to save two. Well technically sacrificing one in a necromantic ritual to bring two back from the dead.
