Finally scratched that one off the backlog. I'm always stunned how consistently immersive sims have bad endgames.

Editing … Early impressions were good. The story felt more personal with a voiced protagonist. Emily and Corvo's abilities feel distinct while both still getting roughly equal utility with environment. Crafting bone charms allows for a bit more versatility in character upgrades. The writing is a lot less cringe in terms of its treatment of women. The level design is a real cut above, with several stages that feel extremely distinct and memorable. But the narrative really starts to drag in the latter half as it devolves into "go here, eliminate the dude, go there, eliminate that prick" with very little sense of events building on one another. It almost feels like a game that allows you to tackle missions in any order, so events that will have consequences have to be kept to a minimum, except the mission order is 100% linear.
