Obviously the best experience you can have with this game is on the Dolphin Emulator with a 250% CPU overclock (I mean a virtual CPU overclock of the GameCube CPU) and higher resolution graphics. Unfortunately, this does not stop the countless bugs from appearing, including game-breaking bugs where you are trapped in a constant loop (needing to reset the level) or outright freezes where only a restart of the emulator can solve the problem. I played this with a friend of mine and we couldn't even enter one of the levels because the loading zone for that level is just... completely gone. We've 100%'d everything except that one level. Thanks to Action Replay codes there is a way to activate the developer-only "Level Select" mode which lets you select levels; that's the only way for us to access that level in the game.

It's a damn shame that this game had to be rushed but the developers were not at fault here. Universal pressured for a game release after only 13 months of development (apparently 24 months were planned) so a buggy mess was inevitable. Bugs and glitches aside, this is a very good game. I liked the level designs, the music, the graphics... even the mini-games were not as annoying as they were in Spyro 2 and 3 in the Reignited Trilogy. Despite only featuring one overworld; the length of this game is roughly the same as the other Spyro games (10-14 hours). Spyro controls well enough; although it takes a while for him to get going. Really, from a gameplay perspective I have no issues with this game. Unfortunately the bugs make me give it a score which is two points lower of what I'd have given it had it launched in a bug-free, completed state. [6 / 10]
