I was in hysterics watching the hubby reacting to the news in yesterday's Direct that the Switch rerelease could be played without motion controls. (Picture: raising his arms and hands to the sky as if praising baby Jesus, and then slowly lowering them straight in front of himself and reraising them, basically bowing emphatically to Aonuma). That was literally all he ever wanted out of this game. The bad controls completely ruined it for him.

Editing … I wanted it for the motion controls. I'm now very confused as to whether to get a Wii for it like I had planned, or a non-Lite model Switch instead, or to play it without motion controls altogether (although the thought of it makes me sad. They were something special imo). With a Switch I can check out Arms too, as well as play SS with better graphics and no Wii nunchuk cable flailing around and hitting me. :p But the Wii has Rodea which I still need to check out. So I'm leaning toward Wii.

Editing … Seeing the amount of rage my husband exuded in his playthrough, a man who has played video games for over 30 years and Zelda games since the genesis of the series, idk how anyone who played SS did so without struggling with the motion controls constantly, but apparently such people do exist. If you want a non-Lite Switch for other reasons, I would say get that version in case you deicde the motion controls aren't worth it. Highly doubt a Wii costs much at all these days anyway.

Editing … Maybe I'll play it on Wii then on Switch Lite. I'll have experienced both control styles and both graphical versions, and don't need to buy anything other than a Wii, which I wanted to own anyway. That's perfect.

Editing … I just tried the Arms demo. It feels like it was meant to be played with motion controls. And I kind of want to. =P EDIT: Actually, I think I just wanted to change the button mappings. I tried the demo again after mapping left/right punch to ZL and ZR, and blocking to B, and this feels a lot better to me. Maybe I'll get the full game!
