    Saved!
I keep forgetting that this album exists. It's only 10 songs, but each track packed a serious punch. It's as long as it ever needed to be. "N.Y. State of Mind" is gritty as hell. And hip-hop radio still plays "Represent," because it's perfect for MCs to battle.

In short, it's that rare major label debut that has the artsy feel of an indie release. And it's a quick compilation between Nas and all of the best rap producers at the time. It probably deserves more awards or something, but I don't mind. I'll just shove it in the face of anyone who thinks that they know rap.
