This was the movie that turned me into a Bill Murray fan. Lost In Translation works on so many levels--as a surreal travel movie and as a goofy comedy. The chemistry between Murray and Scarlett Johannson starts slow, but after a few minutes, the whole atmosphere just threw me in a trance. There's that luscious dream pop soundtrack with an original song from Kevin Shields, the singer of My Bloody Valentine. Even after the two characters leave Japan, the trance-like vibe of the immersive urban environment of Tokyo still lingers.
