Psychonauts is full of original and imaginative ideas, and for the most part, the execution of these ideas is done fantastically. Probably the game's biggest attraction is its sense of humour - the characters, the world and the plot are all really funny and brought to life by great writing. While the gameplay mechanics are pretty similar throughout (adding in a few new abilities as you progress), the design of each level differs substantially, adding variety and keeping the game engaging. Psychonauts' biggest flaws would have to be its appallingly designed final level (a really poor way to end the game), and the basic mechanics feeling a bit clunky. When looked at as a whole however, the game is a novel and entertaining experience.
