    Saved!
Although Patlabor 2 often gets referred to as a political and philosophical war movie with robots, I just call it an older Japanese version of The Dark Knight Rises. However, the artists and scriptwriters made the situation far more intense and realistic in the 21st century. Imagine if the electrical grid in Tokyo was wiped offline by heavily armed gun helicopters and hacked zeppelins with electromagnetic pulse waves. And somehow a scrappy police robot squad is supposed to stop the terrorist group.

Patlabor 2 easily made up for the overly philosophical script of the first movie. And it set the stage for anime director Mamoru Oshii to work on the Ghost in the Shell movie. If anyone finds it in stores, check out the DVD. I bought it for $1.50 but it's a true classic.
