This was the first rap song that really, really hooked me. It was the most upbeat jam on the radio, but I honestly thought that it was about...a monkey that was brass. Hey, I was a kid back then.

"Whoomp! (There It Is)" might have gotten me interested in rap, but "Brass Monkey" was when it turned hardcore. It proved that the Beasties were the real deal.
