This was the first game I ever played as far as I'm able to remember, and playing this as a 3-year old is a pretty scarring experience. I still loved it though and when I got my own copy a few years later I fell in love with it, and now as an adult I'm able to appreciate why that is. The atmosphere in this game is so absorbing, the environments and music go together to make you either feel really immersed in a hazardous sci-fi facility, or terrified that at any moment you're going to open a door and be swarmed with xenos you're unprepared for, and both are great. There's a constant feeling of dread as you straight up do not have nearly the amount of ammo you think you need and enemies wreck you in this game, so it's so easy to die or run out of ammo and go into a blind panic, but it never feels unfair, you just have to be careful. Also the Queen Alien boss fights in this game are the tensest shit ever. That thing will not die and the music does a great job of letting you know how fucked you are. Really good game.
