I didn't actually think this would become an issue, but alas, it has: we need to establish whether a premiere at a festival (Cannes, Venice) should count as a release date, or whether the official cinema-wide release should. I personally think the latter, sometimes films are premiered at festivals but then re-edited before they're _properly_ released for the general public, hence Wikipedia listing two release dates on occasions.
